Programming Applications in C++

Limited number of participants! Please register by sending an email to cpp_anwendung@ini.rub.de stating your name, student ID number, study program (Studiengang), and semester. Please also state whether you are planning on applying C++ to anything in particular.
This course provides a two-week introduction to various established C++ Libraries that are relevant to develop modern graphical applications, and is build on the "Intensive Course C++" which is a requirement for participating. There will be several applications in Neuroinformatics like machine learning, computer vision etc.

Educational objects:
Participants will be able to learn and deepen their knowledge on complex libraries autonomously. There will be a focus on design concepts which will enable students to determine which library to use in terms of use case and target of application.

Topics:
- Modern view of C++
- Graphical user interface (Qt)
- Database connections
- Network programming
- Multithreading
- Topics of machine learning
- Topics of (real-time) computer vision

The Institut für Neuroinformatik (INI) is a research unit of the Faculty of Computer Science at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum. Its scientific goal is to understand the fundamental principles through which organisms generate behavior and cognition while linked to their environments through sensory and effector systems. Inspired by our insights into such natural cognitive systems, we seek new solutions to problems of information processing in artificial cognitive systems. We draw from a variety of disciplines that include experimental psychology and neurophysiology as well as machine learning, neural artificial intelligence, computer vision, and robotics.
