My current project is "Using robot navigation algorithms to dissect spatial behavior and neural activity in rodents". The goal of this project is to use robot navigation algorithms that involve path integration, place recognition and cognitive map mechanisms to reveal the computations underlying biological navigation. To this end, we will let a robot navigate environments under conditions similar to those that have been used in experiments and compare the behavior and internal activity to behavior and neural activity, respectively, in rodents.
