Lecture (2 SWS, 2 credit points): Thursdays 12:15-13:45 o'clock in NA 01/99. First time 07.04.2011. From 19.05.2011 onwards in the INI seminar room NB 3/57.
Tutorial (2 SWS, 4 credit points): Thursdays 10:30-12:00 o'clock in the larger INI seminar room NB 3/57. First time 14.04.2011.

This course covers mathematical methods that are relevant for modeling and data analysis. Particular emphasis will be put on an intuitive understanding as is required for a creative command of mathematics. The following topics will be covered: Functions, Hilbert-Spaces, matrices as, transformations, systems of linear differential equations, qualitative analysis of nonlinear differential equations, Bayes theory, multiple integrals.

For a certificate you need at least 50% in the final exam. (Active participation in the tutorial is not required anymore!)

This course can be given in English upon request. Course material (lecture notes and exercise sheets) will be in English in any case.
