Seminar (1 SWS): biweekly Tuesdays 16:15-17:45 Uhr in the INI seminar soom ND 03/89,92. First time 13.04.2010.
This seminar is for PhD-students and postdocs in experimental labs in the field of neuroscience. It covers model based (not statistical) approaches to analyzing experimental data. The basic procedure will be that in one meeting a participant presents his/her data and the group discusses possible ways to analyze it model-based. In the next one to three meetings Prof. Wiskott presents some of the mathematical background necessary to perform the type of analysis discussed. We might also discuss good examples from the literature.
BTW: There are a lot of courses available specifically on statistics, which will not be the main focus of this seminar. Use the university search engine click on 'Veranstaltungen' and search for 'Statistik'. If you do not speak German, maybe they are willing to give the seminars in English.
